Renown U.S. retailer Target have made an intriguing announcement as they recently reveal their own blockchain called ConsenSource, which is still on open source for now. The idea behind this setup is basically to help them in managing along with tracking supply chain, which can be done much effectively by using this crypto based technology.
The massive retailer announced that news via an official blog post on their site from their Vice President of Architecture, Joel Crabb, who explained that they already started the blockchain idea back in 2018. After further exploration, the company finally discover the right method and also partnering with Cargill, Target eventually set to set things up via Hyperledger Grid.
“As ConsenSource progressed, Cargill’s work in creating supply chain middleware to store data and transactions on a blockchain came to our attention. As we learned more about the effort, Cargill and Intel took the project to Hyperledger, an open source collaborative hosted by Linux Foundation, and it became Hyperledger Grid,” Crabb explained on his post.
The open source setup under Linux is believed to be the best platform for Target in working on their ConsenSource. That’s why the U.S. retailers are set to provide their support for Hyperledger Grid project from now on.
It will be interesting to see how will the development of this blockchain based project go for Target. A positive result which turn the currently open sourced setup into a fully active platform can further enhance the popularity and impact of this crypto technology into the world.
